(Science News ) The two reactors at the South Texas nuclear power plant, an hour
southwest of Houston, last year churned out 21.37 billion
kilowatt-hours. By 2015, its majority owner, New Jersey-based NRG
Energy, hopes to at least double that capacity if it gets permission to
build two more reactors on the site. The company filed the first
application on Monday for a new nuclear power plant—two advanced boiling-water reactors—in more than 30 years.

Future Energy That Generates Profits Today |
|
Monday, 23 July 2007 |
|
(NY Times ) -- Alternative energy is considered to be good for the environment and
good for the soul, but not so good as a way to make money. Generating
power from renewable sources like wind, the sun and the earth’s own
heat has a reputation for being unprofitable without government
subsidies or sky-high energy prices.

|
Monday, 16 July 2007 |
|
(NY Times ) -- Even as companies in China, Germany, Japan and the United States churn
out silicon photovoltaic cells — which convert sunlight into
electricity — at a blazing and accelerating rate, many experts have
become convinced, paradoxically it would seem, that the technology is
an also-ran, at least as far as global climate change goes.

Need for Clean and Environment-friendly Power Boosts the European Cogeneration Equipment Market |
|
Monday, 18 June 2007 |
|
(Newswire ) -- The
Western European energy market, beleaguered by increasing oil prices,
threats of climate change and greater dependence on fuel imports, has
turned to cogeneration for a long-term solution to all these issues.
But what exactly is cogeneration? It is combined heat and power (CHP)
and implies the use of a heat engine or a power station to
simultaneously generate both electricity and useful heat.

New Technology Turns Hybrids to Plug-in Hybrids |
|
Thursday, 14 June 2007 |
|
(PR-GB.com ) -- There are already numerous hybrid cars and trucks available in the auto
market. These vehicles use an internal combustion engine and an
electric motor. The presence of the electric motor translates to fuel
economy as the engine will be relieved of its duty on low-power
operation when the electric motor takes over. The electric motor in a
hybrid vehicle is powered by a battery pack which is recharged by a
regenerative braking system and the internal combustion engine.

Freeomics Reveals Proprietary Solutions for Energy Oil & Gas Dependency and Green House Gases Waste |
|
Wednesday, 02 May 2007 |
|
(Newswire) -- Freeomics™
technologies eliminate the dependence on fossil fuels while cleaning
the environment. Countries around the world will benefit from this
technology immediately, plus provides an answer to the Kyoto treaty.
The Freeomics principle technology is FreeomicGas™ which utilizes water
to create energy in addition to eliminating waste. Freeomics has
successfully broken the barriers related to cost and space. The energy
is created with low voltage (15 volts) that produces 2000 Celsius plus
of heat. The energy is created the moment the unit is turned on. "This
is not a far-fetched dream for the future - it is a realistic,
achievable necessity," says Larry Castro, CEO.
